Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Uluru - Uluru Field of Light Tour

Arrive in Uluru in the morning or early afternoon and catch the shuttle bus to the resort before beginning to explore Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. You are welcome to take part in the afternoon resort activies including Didgeridoo playing, Spear & Boomerang throwing and Wakagetti Cultural Dancers. In the late afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel to visit the magnificent Field of Light art installation by international artist Bruce Munro.

The Field of Light Star experience begins at remote desert location with majestic views of Uluru and from a raised viewing area you will watch as the last sun rays hit Uluru and as darkness gradually falls and the coloured lights of the glass spheres come to life you walk through the Field of Light. You are then welcomed back for sparkling wine and canapés whilst viewing the illuminated installation in the darkness.

Departs: Daily 30 minutes prior to sunset from Ayers Rock Resort Returns: Approximately 1.5 hours after sunset to Ayers Rock Resort.

Day 2: Around Uluru - Kata Tjuta Sunrise Tour & Kata Tjuta Valley of the Winds, Uluru Sunset Tour

Travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) where your Driver Guide will explain the geological history of the area. Kata Tjuta simply translated means "heads many" and given the 36 steep sided domes of Kata Tjuta, it is aptly named. Watch the spectacular sunrise over Kata Tjuta with Uluru in the distance from the western dune viewing area, light breakfast included. Your Driver Guide will then escort you on a 2-3 hour walk to the Valley of the Winds lookout. Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta.

Please Note - This walk can be challenging over rocky ground and requires a good level of fitness, but is well worth the effort. (Shorter walks are available for thos not wanting to walk to the second lookout.). You need to bring your own water bottles (2L per person), wear sturdy walking shoes, comfortable protective clothing, a hat and sunscreen.

After Lunch and a restful afternoon back at the resort you will be picked up 75mins prior to sunset to travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Enjoy nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine as the sun sinks over the western horizon and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is famous. Don't forget your camera! It is recommended that you photograph Uluru every 5 minutes to really capture the gradual colour changes of the rock. Occasionally, when it rains you may be lucky enough to see the spectacular sight of water cascading over the sides of Uluru.

Afternoon: Uluru Sunset Tour

Day 3: Around Uluru - Uluru Sunrise & Guided Base Walk and Kata Tjuta Sunset

You will rise early enjoying the sunrise as you walk around the base of Uluru to explore the most profound and culturally significant monolith in Australia. You will embrace the culture, geology and environment that is the essence of this amazing monolith. Your guide will tell the cultural Aboriginal creation stories associated with this central Australian icon. Along the trail you will visit waterholes and the rock art sites of the ancients and learn of Uluru's cultural significance to the Anangu (local Aboriginal) people. You will witness a spectacular sunrise and absorb the majesty of this powerful place.

You will return to the resort for a relaxing afternoon before being collected and taken to Kata Tjuta to view a magnificent Sunset as you enjoy nibbles & sparkling wine.

Day 4: Kings Canyon Day Trip:

Today starts early as you travel to Kings Creek Station for breakfast (own expence) then on to the amazing Kings Canyon. The canyon is set amoung an incredible ancienct Australian landscape that is sacred ground for the Ulpinyali and Lilla people.

For the more energetic you may participate in a 6km Rim Walk where you'll climb up a 100m cliff face and walk around the rim of the canyon. This walk has the most impressive views. For those that want a more relaxing expericence, the creek bed walk is ideal and you can take a little more time to enjoy your surroundings before setting off on your 2km stroll to take in the impressive rim views.

Then you're off to Kings Canyon resort - a true oasis in the outback where you will enjoy lunch (own expence) and bring your swimmers if you want to take a dip in the pool. Then it's a leisurely ride back to Uluru enjoying the amazing outback scenery.

Day 5: Around Uluru - Sounds of Silence

After your big day to Kings Canyon, you can sleep in then choose a relaxing and informative cultural tour. You may choose between the Bush Tucker Tour - where you will discover the importance of traditional bush food to the people of Central Australia with your Aboriginal hosts and taste a selection of bush plants and animals. Or you may choose to join indigenous artists to learn about the different symbols used to create the beautiful works of art and try your had at painting and take home to have as a memento of your visit.

Then you have a free afternoon to relax around the resort - you may laze by the pool or participate in the resorts afternoon activities such including Didgeridoo playing, Spear & Boomerang throwing and Wakagetti Cultural Dancers.

Late afternoon you will be picked up and taken to the award winning Sounds of Silence Dinner. Sip on a glass of champagne with the sound of a lone didgeridoo filling the air as the sun slowly sets over Uluru. You will then be taken to a private dining setting in the middle of the desert for an unforgettable fine dinning experience that includes a star talk.

Day 6: Around Uluru

A free morning to relax and sleep in before your departure.
