Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Uluru - Uluru Field of Light Tour

Arrive in Uluru in the morning or early afternoon and catch the shuttle bus to the resort before beginning to explore Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. You are welcome to take part in the afternoon resort activies including Didgeridoo playing, Spear & Boomerang throwing and Wakagetti Cultural Dancers.

In the late afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel to visit the magnificent Field of Light art installation by international artist Bruce Munro. The Field of Light Star experience begins at remote desert location with majestic views of Uluru and from a raised viewing area you will watch as the last sun rays hit Uluru and as darkness gradually falls and the coloured lights of the glass spheres come to life you walk through the Field of Light. You are then welcomed back for sparkling wine and canapés whilst viewing the illuminated installation in the darkness.

Departs: Daily 30 minutes prior to sunset from Ayers Rock Resort Returns: Approximately 1.5 hours after sunset to Ayers Rock Resort.

Day 2: Around Uluru & Kata Tjuta:

Uluru Sunrise

You will be collected from your hotel before dawn and as you travel towards Uluru it's vast shape rises from the sand dunes in the early dawn light highlighting the presence in this country. Visiting the sunrise viewing area, Talinguru Nyakunytjaku, you will enjoy a light breakfast as you witness the first sunlight of the day creep over the horizon and touch the desert plains. After sunrise you will be returned to your hotel.

Please note: You have the option of upgrading to a sunrise camel tour. A peaceful one hour camel ride over the rich red sand dunes in the cool, clear morning air, witnessing the sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Watch the desert come to life as our friendly and knowledgeable cameleers tell you about the flora and fauna along the trail. Includes a light breakfast of our famous freshly baked beer bread damper with Australian jams, tea & coffee. The camel ride is an additional $35pp and must be selected at the time of booking.

Kata Tjuta & Cultural Centre

Travel to Kata Tjuta (Olgas) for the first walk of the day into the beautiful Walpa Gorge. Take in the stunning domes of Kata-Tjuta, see the wildflowers (depending on the season) and marvel at the views of the open plains on the return walk.

Your tour then visits the Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Here, you will have time to learn about the local Pitjantjatjara people and buy souvenirs. Built from 90,000 mud bricks, the Cultural Centre was created with the help of the local Anangu people. The sacred site it is built on has special meaning to its traditional owners.

Uluru - Mala & Mutitjulu Waterhole

In the afternoon you head to the base of the majestic Uluru (Ayers Rock). From here, your tour guide will take you on a guided Mala Walk which follows the north-west side of Uluru, where you will see many fascinating examples of Anangu rock art and along the way, hear ancient stories of the Anangu People. Your guide will then take you along a short track to the Mutitjulu waterhole – home of an ancestral water snake called Wanampi. You’ll hear stories of local traditions and learn how the Anangu people traditionally used the waterhole for hunting.

Uluru - Sunset & BBQ

A spectacular finish to the day has you take in a breathtaking Uluru sunset with a glass of bubbly (or BYO beer) and a delicious Aussie BBQ Dinner before returning back to your Ayers Rock Resort Accommodation.

Day 3: Kings Canyon Day Trip:

Your day starts early as you travel to Kings Creek Station for breakfast, then on to the amazing Kings Canyon. The canyon is set amoung an incredible ancient Australian landscape that is sacred ground for the Ulpinyali and Lilla people.

For the more energetic you may participate in a 6km Rim Walk where you'll climb up a 100m cliff face and walk around the rim of the canyon. This walk has the most impressive views. For those that want a more relaxing experience, the creek bed walk is ideal and you can take a little more time to enjoy your surroundings before setting off on your 2km stroll to take in the impressive rim views.

Then you're off to Kings Canyon resort - a true oasis in the outback where you will enjoy lunch (own expense) and bring your swimmers if you want to take a dip in the pool. Then it's a leisurely ride back to Uluru enjoying the amazing outback scenery.

Day 4: Depart Uluru

A free morning to relax and sleep in or laze about the pool. For the more adventurous take the opportunity to wake up early and experience another crisp morning and sunrise around the Rock or take part in the resort morning activities including Guided Garden Walk, Indigenous Art Classes for Kids or be captivated by Indigenous Bush Yarns.
NB: (Package includes transfers from the resort back to the airport).
